Battle Mile Hostel

For a single night it might do, but it's basically a renovated basement divided into tiny 3-square rooms. Two showers and two toilets sit along the corridor, separated for women and men. The only real upside is the kitchen. Soundproofing is about 2/10, and the WiFi stops working when the power goes out, so there's no connection to the outside world.

The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, and there's free bottled filtered drinking water. The basement can also serve as a shelter. The rooms are very small, with no proper ventilation, and our twin room had no air conditioning. There are only two toilets and showers for the whole hostel. Shower fittings are worn and rusty, and you get just one towel per person. The walls are thin enough that even quiet conversations carry.

There is no water and the sewerage doesn't work. The basement has just one way in and out, and not a single fire safety rule is followed. The administration is rude, and it isn't worth the money at all. A horrible place, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I've stayed here three times now while coming to Cherkasy for work, and it's been more comfortable than the apartments and houses with private bathrooms I've used before. The rooms are warm, clean, and nicely decorated, and there's a washing machine, which is handy for a longer stay. The kitchen has everything for cooking, even a toaster. It's cozy and extremely clean, and the owner is open, responsive, and attentive to guests' requests. I'd recommend giving it a try ❤️
