Fire Inn

This used to be my usual place to stay in Kyiv, but the service was very poor this time. They tried to charge me more than the Booking.com price I’d been given. When I showed it to them, they told me to take it up with Booking.com and said I was already getting too big of a discount. I was left looking for somewhere else at the last minute.

I got woken up at night by multiple air raid sirens, but otherwise the place was super chill. The rooms were cheap and really nice, and mine even had a couch to sit on, which was dope 🛋

I could feel every spring in the mattress, and I didn’t complain because I was only staying one night. The sound insulation was nonexistent, and neighbors talking late at night woke me several times. Cleaning staff talked loudly in the corridor from 8 a.m., making it feel as though they were sitting on my bed discussing their problems. I’m not even sure the room had been cleaned: there was hair in the shower and on the bed, plus crumbs on the chair. The linen itself was clean, but a large dark spot showed through the pillowcase. Disgusting. It was okay for one night, but I won’t return or recommend it to friends.

It’s incredibly quiet inside, even though the hotel is central and handy for exploring the city. The rooms were much bigger and more comfortable than we expected for such a low price, and everything was extremely clean and felt safe. The hotel occupies the third and fourth floors of a working fire station. There’s a patisserie, a shop, and a cool bar right on the corner, with the rest of this beautiful, enormous city easy to reach on foot. Top tip, UBER is ridiculously cheap. Definitely recommend it.
