Gar'is Hostel Kiev

The metro is close by, which is handy, and the showers have plenty of hot water. But I wouldn’t stay here again. The place feels smaller and darker than it looks in the pictures, and I’m not sure the toilets get cleaned. The walls are thin, doors slam constantly, and people stay noisy past midnight.

The location was perfect, close to both the metro and the center, and the internet worked well. It was organized, with average prices, and a good place to sleep. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. The kitchen had all the equipment and tools you could need. The toilet and shower rooms were always clean. They were so secretarial. If I get the chance to come to Kiev again, I’ll definitely stay at gar’is hostel.

It’s clean and quiet, close to the metro, and the young staff are nice and speak reasonable English. The hostel itself is fine. I was a little disappointed at first because there wasn’t much of a hostel atmosphere. Some Russians and Ukrainians stay there for work. That wasn’t a problem, though, and after looking into it more, apparently you won’t find anything better than this in kiev.

The staff were nice because they’re young, but the hostel itself was awful. We were packed in so tightly that every little corner seemed to have a bed. The rooms had a bad smell from the lack of ventilation, and the toilets smelled even worse and were never washed. It’s poorly located too, at least 1.5 km from the city center, in an area without public transport.
