Hotel Druzhba

I like staying here. It's safe and comfortable, the WiFi works well, and I had no trouble getting hot water. The shower connects to the sink, but that's common in this part of the world and hasn't bothered me. There's parking, though I haven't used it, and a gym attached if that's useful. It's reasonably priced and close to the metro in both directions. Noise carries through the doors, so I wouldn't pick it for a honeymoon, hint, hint. It isn't a five-star hotel and doesn't claim to be. I've stayed in some hostels, so that may affect my perspective, but I think it's a good hotel.

This is about the hotel on the 7th floor, which seems separate from the first six floors for both payment and check-in. It was the cheapest motel I could find near the Metro, and it had air conditioning. The AC was great through the summer heat. The room was fair to good, and the bathroom had been updated, though there was a little mold. For $25, that's to be expected in such a good location. You can walk to a lot of places even without taking the metro.

I can't see how this is a 3 star hotel. Nordic countries have much better places at that rating. This felt more like a cheap hostel. There was long dark hair in my bed, which couldn't be mine since I shave my head, and stains on the pillow. The blanket was too short, the room smelled funky, and the refrigerator kept making noise off and on. The toilet paper felt like sandpaper, and I had to ask for more when it ran out. The staff's English was far from fluent.

The deluxe suite was clean and looked newly renovated, though it was small. Some basics were missing, like a chair and shower holders for gel or shampoo. The lobby cafe downstairs was surprisingly decent, and the WiFi was fast and open. Overall, a positive stay.
