IQ Hotel

The place felt weird, almost like an AI-made liminal space. The receptionist seemed clueless. I had the most expensive room, but the sink was right next to the bed, like in a Swedish prison, and the toilet door didn’t lock. The windows only opened about 5 cm. Breakfast was good, though, and the shower head and water pressure were the best I’ve ever had. Eh.

The hotel has a lively feel and a modern look, and the front desk team were friendly. I liked the room and found the bed comfortable enough, though it was quite firm and the pillows a bit soft for me. Getting downtown takes around 20-30 minutes by car. Nearby, there’s a nice mall with international brands, an ice rink, and one of the biggest grocery stores I’ve ever seen. The main drawback was the noise at night. I could hear people talking in the hallway and sounds from the neighboring room, while the doors slammed loudly. The long corridors made everything echo. I didn’t see many other reviews mention it, so maybe I’m especially sensitive, but light sleepers may want to stay elsewhere.

The hotel feels new, with nice design throughout, and the rooms were clean and quiet at night. It’s dog friendly, too. Check whether your room has a window, since some don’t. It’s a decent location if you want to be near the university district, though it’s a long way from the city center.

I started the morning with a coffee from the breakfast service, even got an espresso, which was nice. The desk staff were pleasant, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms look modern, though they’re on the small side. The sink was especially tiny, which bothered me.
