Kolos Hotel Obolon

An old USSR hotel.

Nice.

Okay.

We paid 790 rubles a night for a double room on the second floor, room 208. It’s a decent budget option for one night, though you can hear loud sounds through the walls and there’s no view from the window. The room floors were dirty and hadn’t been vacuumed well. I’d give the cleaning three stars, although there wasn’t dust on the TV or wall lamps. Most of the furniture wasn’t very old, apart from the armchair. The painted walls had visible marks and stains. The bed and towels surprised me, they were snow white. The bathroom is old but clean, and even the tape on the toilet seat had been disinfected. There’s a cafe in the building for food and drinks. Breakfast is included; we got two pancakes and delicious tea. The staff were very polite and friendly.
