Natsionalny Hotel

Breakfast was simple but I liked it: scrambled or boiled eggs, yogurt, toast, sausages, coffee, and juice, all freshly prepared. The place has a Soviet style, and I liked that too. Staff were polite, and they changed the towels daily and cleaned the room.

The room was quiet and the location was good. Cleaning could be better, though. If you stay for a while, they don’t replace toiletries once they run out unless you ask. You have to request fresh bedsheets, or take the used ones off the bed to show they need changing. The maid was very friendly and nice. The restaurant on the third floor had good food and a decent service attitude, maybe six out of ten. Prices weren’t cheap, but weren’t expensive either. They also acted quickly when there was a technical problem with the room light.

Dinner was the standout for me. I tried several dishes and they were all delicious, almost like home cooking. Breakfast was fine too, though the selection was small. The hotel has nicely renovated rooms in an old Soviet style, and the kitchen is great. The architecture is a whole experience: look at the stairs, and even the lobby feels like time travel, as if it belongs in a film set in that era. It’s in a prestigious area, so walking down to downtown makes sense, but remember you’ll have to climb back up on the way back. I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it.

I was on the top floor and had a great view southeast toward the Dnieper. Some rooms also seem to have a view northeast over the Rada. The rooms are nice, and the restaurant has decent food with pretty good service. The common areas still have Soviet decor, but everything is clean and well maintained.
