Grand Hotel Lviv Casino & Spa

The breakfast was quite good, and the staff were A+. My room's first impression was rough because outside noise was really loud. The receptionist mistakenly said nothing could be done, probably because we were speaking English and misunderstood each other. The noise did stop around 11 PM, or 10 PM on some nights, but why play music so loudly that late? The gym is nice, though it'd be better if it stayed open all day instead of 7-9. The spa could be amazing, but the chlorine smell is strong.

We had a Superior Double with a fantastic view over the Oldtown and its monuments. It was spacious, well equipped and furnished, fairly quiet, with a very comfortable bed, minibar and nice bathroom. Everything looked new, and service across the hotel was great. We loved the Spa and think it's well worth a visit. Thanks especially to the doorman, the Ladies keeping the Spa in order, and Housekeeping. There's also a safe space on the lower level if needed. Really, it had everything we could wish for.

We stayed three nights in a suite at the Grand Hotel, and it was very economical after the currency conversion. The hotel really is grand, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lwow was beautiful and vibrant despite the current war with Russia. We explored the city, Ternopil, Skalat and places connected with our ancestry. We would've stayed a few more days if not for the war.

The standout for me was the underground spa. It's impressively large, with a good-sized pool, several jacuzzis and four or five rooms with different saunas and hamams. There's even a « hay room ». The hotel looks very nice inside and out. The bar has a whisky and cigar area, which is unusual enough to notice, and the casino is easy to reach by room lift. I had a Superior room on the 7th floor with a nice view and a good bed, plus the usual bottles of water. Soundproofing wasn't the best I've had in a five-star hotel. The bathroom was a letdown: the sink was a little broken, the shower water wasn't very hot, and the cleaning products came in large bottles. For a five-star hotel, I'd prefer a small kit of quality toiletries. It's a good hotel, just not the best five-star stay you can get.
