Hotel Arcadia

The breakfast buffet was great, and the food menu in general was very good. The waiter working breakfast, lunch, and dinner never seemed to stop, a really efficient guy. I slept extremely well every night, too. The staff were excellent, especially the manageress at reception, who was very friendly. They left a great impression.

We had nowhere to plug in our phones except the bathroom. The prices were extremely high for such poor quality, so I can't recommend the place. The cleaning was awful. Staff started vacuuming at 09:00 and kept gossiping. They tried to open our door, then knocked hard and kept at it even when we ignored them. I finally got out of bed and dressed to ask what they wanted, and they asked whether we needed cleaning. While they cleaned, they kept hitting our door with the vacuum cleaner.

Miss Elena on the day shift was kind, welcoming, and always smiling. She speaks English and Italian very well, thumbs up to her. Our check-in was the opposite. My friend and I got to the hotel around midnight, and Miss Ecaterina, the receptionist, seemed a little sleepy and didn't treat us very well. She came across as lazy and uninterested in her work, and didn't even smile. Thumbs down.

The room and hotel looked clean, and breakfast was quite varied, with a nice selection of desserts. Breakfast is available from 07.30 to 10.30. A few practical things were awkward. There was no plug near the bed, so you couldn't use your phone or tablet there while it charged across the room. The Wi-Fi was very weak in a middle room, so unless you have roaming, you'll need mobile data. The room layout was odd too. For room 517, after getting out of the lift you have to go the opposite way from the arrow. Bring your own slippers and hair dryer. There weren't any slippers in the room, perhaps that's just the standard rooms, and the hair dryer was very cheap and weak.
