The Theatre Hotel

Three weeks before we were due to arrive, they unexpectedly cancelled our booking. There was no apology and no alternative offered. They called it a technical failure, then said stays at the hotel require at least four nights and cost more.

We found it peaceful and cozy, with the city center and Odessa's attractions close by. The apartment had everything we needed, and the owners had clearly thought of the practical details. The management was friendly too. My husband and I would definitely return when we get the chance.

Ekaterina at reception was so pleasant, and the service was top-notch. We had a clean room with a spacious bathroom, a bathtub, and a separate shower. Coffee was free, too. The hotel is in Odessa's historic center, near the Opera House, Deribasovskaya Street, the Potemkin Stairs, and the seaport, and the location is worth every penny. I'll book here again next time I'm in town. 🙏❤️

I won't be staying at KVARTET APART HOTEL again, in any city. The place has done too much damage to its reputation. The staff are the only reason I'm giving it two stars. The price isn't especially high, but it's not cheap either. By Odessa standards the room is a decent size, though to me 4 x 4 meters felt very small. They'd packed in a kitchen, double bed, double-door wardrobe, two chairs, a table, bathroom, and more. There was a TV, but it wasn't tuned, so it was no use. The kitchen counter gave you just 20 cm to work on, unless you moved the microwave onto the floor. The fridge, microwave, hood, and sink were clean, and there were enough dining supplies for two. The bathroom was compact and clean, with things conveniently arranged. The soap, shampoo, and toilet paper were new, like you'd expect in a good hotel. But the shower drain was clogged, and we went two days without washing before leaving. There were no robes, despite their being on the price list. The towels looked as if dozens of guests had used them. The slippers were new, though the table had just been painted and left paint marks on our clothes. Noise came through the walls easily. I could hear the neighbors talking about their day and taking turns in the restroom. I kept the curtains shut the whole time because there was a window 15 meters across. The room had a thick folder listing rules about what guests couldn't do, plus prices for damaged items from a bed to a cup. If something gets broken, be prepared. The administration says it isn't responsible for valuables, so there's a safe in the room. Its code is written in that folder, which looked like it was there for anyone to read. Don't order breakfast, it isn't worth the money. A five-minute walk away, Prunes is a decent, inexpensive place with lots of dishes, snacks, and pastries. For 200 UAH you get breakfast and lunch right away.
