OKRA HOUSE Entebbe

The setting is wonderfully quiet and picturesque, and I almost wish we'd had more time to enjoy it. Our cottage room was clean and self-contained, with security lights throughout. The staff were very accommodating, and the airport pickup and drop-off were reliable and fast, just a five-minute drive.

Joy at the front desk made us feel like family and gave us a warm welcome. Okra house is as charming and clean as the online pictures, with lovely views over the gardens, town, and lake. In person it feels more like a home than a commercial hotel. Joy suggested an excellent nearby place to eat and was ready to drive us, but we enjoyed the short, safe walk and loved the food. We had to fly out early the next morning, and she arranged for someone, Arthur perhaps, to take us to the airport. He was even early. Just before we left, Joy came running out with a blanket around her to say a special goodbye and wish us a good flight. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The agreed airport transfer wasn't there at the agreed time. We called three times and waited almost two hours around midnight, which cost us valuable rest before our early safari pickup the next day. Our room was clean, though relatively small, and breakfast was okay. The location is quiet while still close to everything you need.

The grounds are well maintained and lovely to spend time in, with lots of birds that have made their home there. We found the place perfect for our two-night stay: friendly, clean, and comfortable. Affa was awake to collect us from the airport at 2:00am, Gloria gave us a gracious welcome, and Joy served a delicious late breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble.
