The rooms were roomy and clean, with hot water, and the gardens made the place feel calm and breezy. Jovia, the manager, and the whole team were wonderful with our group of arriving guests. They sorted out pickups, briefings, and dinners, and even stayed up through the night to have our requested 5 a.m. breakfast ready.

The rooms were okay, and the staff were friendly, though service could be slow sometimes. There’s no room service, which was probably just an oversight. Nights could get a bit loud when new guests arrived, and that happened every night.

The gardens at Papyrus were so peaceful, and the food was great, especially the coffee and Ugandan breakfast. Gift, Kennedy and Fatumah looked after us incredibly well. I loved our stay at this lovely little guest house in Entebbe.

We had a terrible time with our bags getting lost, and it took days to get them back. While we were elsewhere in the country, Gift held some things for us and tracked down the missing bag when it arrived. When we returned to Entebbe for a layover, Gift brought it out to the airport.

The three garden dining and sitting spots each had their own feel, whether you wanted to eat or just relax. Gift helped us choose dinner, which had three options plus soup and dessert, and breakfast from four options; we ordered ahead so it would all be fresh. Our room was basic but clean, with a mosquito net and fragrant toiletries in the walk-in shower. Tony carried our bags from the vehicle and somehow knew when we were leaving, ready to porter them again. The shared tip box by check-in is a good way to tip the whole team without doing it each time.
