It feels very homely, and the rates seem fair for what you get. The place was clean, the welcome was warm, and the staff were friendly, especially Winnie. Water was running properly whenever I needed a shower.

The staff were lovely and breakfast was great. The shower didn't work very well, though, and the mattress had that typical Ugandan feel. It’s a clean, nice place, and Gulu turned out to be a really nice stopover.

After exploring Northern Uganda around Gulu, I settled in at Paula for the night. My Tenere 'msafiri' was parked safely, and I enjoyed the atmosphere on the terrace while sipping good-quality Uganda coffee.
