We stayed right by the lake, with gorgeous views and an outdoor shower. The rooms are simple, comfortable, and private, and being off-grid added to the quiet. After gorilla trekking, it was just what we needed to switch off. Wilfred and immi looked after us so warmly, and the three-course dinners were the best meals we had in uganda.

The meals were a highlight: fresh ingredients, vegetables on the table, and Wilfried joining guests for some of our best conversations in Uganda. He also made everyone feel at home throughout our two nights at Amasiko home stay, on a lovely peninsula away from the touristy spots. The outdoor toilet and shower and limited WiFi may feel too basic for some, but we found it a great place to unwind before or after gorilla trekking. Thanks to Wilfried for hosting us. I'd recommend staying here while travelling in Uganda.

Sharon took great care of me, and the food was very good. There are plenty of ways to explore nearby, on foot or by boat. Just be aware that the rooms have a lot of woodland flies. Tuck the mosquito net well under the bed, or the flies can swarm inside it.

The cottage looked out over Lake Bunyonyi, and its secluded setting made it easy to relax. We went canoeing too, which was lovely. Each evening brought a delicious three-course dinner, and the hosts did all they could to make us feel at home. I had a wonderful stay at Amasiko Homestay and highly recommend it.

We spent time swimming and lounging on the jetty, and even spotted otters. A comfortable place to stay, with simple rooms and delicious food shared with the staff. It was peaceful too, with only birdsong and wind in the trees. There's no electricity in the rooms, so expect quiet, early evenings. A few comfortable seats by the lake would make it easier to enjoy the view.
