Dianwill Hotel

I spent 22 days here during my Uganda vacation in December 2023, after hearing about the apartment from my mom. It cost close to $1000, and honestly, the experience was terrible in a lot of ways. The rooms have space, but the whole house had a strange smell that bothered us. There was barely any water, the TV screens were tiny, and the toilet was old and frustrating: after flushing, you had to wait 20 minutes for the tank to refill. The front desk ladies made promises about changing linens and speaking to the plumber, but those things didn't happen. We got one pan for cooking, there was no oven, and the bathrooms had no water outlet. I have nothing good to say about the place and wouldn't stay here again.

We came just to use the pool, and at first things seemed fine. We bought drinks at reception and were the only guests there. After about an hour, our plain chips finally arrived, but they had no salt or ketchup, just tomato sauce. The music was so loud we could barely talk. I politely asked the DJ to turn it down, and he did for five minutes before blasting it again. My wife asked later, and he lowered it briefly, then kept changing the volume up and down off beat, which was really annoying. He gave me a dead eye when I looked over. We sat through it, almost shouting to talk, then decided to go home. The pool itself was alright, but the whole thing made it feel like staff wanted to drive us away, especially since we were the only guests. We even had to argue with reception to get money back for our orders. I could have made better chips from scratch in the same time. The drinks were kept in a fridge at reception. All in all, it would have been a better visit with no staff at all. I definitely won't return.

This isn't a hotel anymore; it's an apartment for rent.

The owners are friendly and open to hearing clients' views, and the service staff were very helpful. It's generally a nice place. My room had no hot water, though, and the TV only had local free-to-air channels. The apartments could use a small fridge, and the breakfast area was too crowded.
