Getting into the city takes about 15 km and 34 minutes by car. I'd cross Kampala off the list.

The peace and quiet is what brings me back, especially on Sundays. It's not crowded, and there's a pleasant garden where you can watch the goats or have one slaughtered for you. They do a nice liver and chips, too. There's accommodation, plenty of parking, cold drinks, and friendly servers. The small restaurant is lovely, with outdoor seating as well.

The restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi were all useful extras, and the location worked well for me. I had a comfortable stay at Red Sox Hotel Kampala, with clean, roomy rooms and welcoming staff. If you're after that home-away-from-home feeling, I'd recommend visiting. I don't think you'll regret it.

The small restaurant served great food, and the staff were really accommodating. They arranged fast Wi-Fi in our room and let us check out late. We also appreciated the hot showers after spending a few weeks having cold ones around the country. It's a modern building in a secure complex, and good value for the price. The hotel is out on Kampala's edge, which could work well if you want to avoid CBD traffic.

Tucked away in bweyogerere kirinya-bukasa, this place has quiet surroundings and really good rooms, with top-notch service at an affordable price. Getting there is easy with the transport connections.
