The central location was convenient and easy to reach, but it didn't make up for the lack of basic comforts. Our room at Pelikan Hotel in Mbarara was small, and the bathroom wasn't well maintained. There was no proper bathing setup, nor a jet spray or suitable alternative by the toilet, which was especially inconvenient for us as Indian guests. Comfort overall was lacking. I wouldn't recommend it to Indian travelers seeking a comfortable stay.

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff are polite. The food is okay. It's a good stop, although neighborhood noise can disturb your sleep.

The night receptionist was rude and behaved badly after I paid. I suggest waiting until you've checked in before paying cash. Staff showed little empathy or customer service, and insisted on giving used, wet towels from other rooms while saying there were no fresh ones.

The rooms are spacious, and the hot water works. The spot is great, on a quiet street with good restaurants nearby and easy access to the main road, though the prices are a bit high for Mbarara. Service could be better. Breakfast was disappointing for 70 or 80k: just an omelette, two slices of bread, and coffee or tea with no spices. The TV picture was so hard to make out that I turned it off.
