Starting August 1, 2023, night game drives are only allowed for tourists staying inside the park. Heritage Safari lodge and the lodges next to it are outside the park, so if a night drive matters to you, look at places and resorts by the river. The lodge has good rooms and nice views, and the staff were friendly and helped carry our bags. But power comes from generators, which only run 7 PM-11 PM and 4 AM-8 AM. There's no electricity for more than half the day, so fans stop at night and charging devices or sleeping can be affected. Given how remote the lodge is, check whether nearby lodges have similar limits before booking.

The road to the lodge isn't in great shape, though I suppose that isn't the lodge's responsibility. The team on site, especially Pius and his crew, did a great job with the service. I'd recommend this accommodation to fellow guides.

The property and setting were absolutely gorgeous, and the safari was one of the best I've ever been on. The service was unmatched. Such an authentic safari experience, 10/10.

The rooms were nicely designed and clean, and the location is quite good, close to the park entrance. But they acted as though they were letting us stay in their own house for free. Some of the replies we got were, “the chef didn't come today,” “we don't have any other vegetable,” and “I slept off” when I woke someone at 4:30 to turn on the generator. Our meal orders were messed up almost every time. There was a vegetarian in our group who had to eat the same thing at every meal. We were paying for the food, but they didn't seem to care and behaved as if they were doing us a favour. The road there wasn't great either. The power is shut off nightly between 11 pm and 4 am, and even the fans stop, so it feels a bit like camping. For a budget place, I can accept that. The government and Murchison Falls changed the rules at short notice, so our night game drive was cancelled. Apparently only guests staying inside the park can go on one under the new rule from August 1. With these new Murchison Falls restrictions, staying outside the park may mean more limits anyway, so you're probably better off inside. You could stay here if you just need a clean place to sleep, but bring your own food, plenty of batteries and a power bank.

The rooms are okay and there's no air conditioning. One thing to know is the WC is separated from the room by a wall that doesn't reach the ceiling. The staff were good, and breakfast and dinner were tasty, though dinner costs an extra 40k UGX. It's not far from the river, where you can hire a boat to see hippos and wild animals along the bank. The dusk views are nice, but the road is very bumpy for the last 1-2 kilometers.
