We were greeted with welcome drinks by kind, helpful staff, and then spotted five mountain gorillas in the jungle from our balcony. The views from the restaurant, bar, balconies, and rooms over the mountains are stunning. The gorilla valley lodge has a truly special atmosphere, with unique food and staff. We loved our stay and can't wait to return.

The garden is well maintained, and the rooms are nice in this beautiful lodge. Festo and Vincent were wonderful hosts who went well beyond what we expected when we ran into a problem with our permit.

The staff were the best part of our stay. They looked after us from the moment we arrived until we left, and were fantastic people. After gorilla tracking, I strongly recommend using their boot-cleaning service. Our boots looked brand new afterward. The grounds are well kept, the rooms are spacious and clean, and hot water was available. The forest views are wonderful, and the food is delicious.

The road here was bumpy and gets really muddy in the rain, but the location is only a 20-minute drive from the Rushaga gate. The staff were friendly and thoughtful, even warming our beds with hot-water bottles in the evening. For $10, the take-away lunch was really good and ideal for gorilla tracking. It was a big portion with homemade cookies included! Our room was basic and smelled moldy, though the shower was good and the view was amazing. We heard plenty of birds and monkeys. The food was great, and the portions were just right for us.
