There’s a lot to do here, from horse riding and the bike park to two playgrounds and other activities. The trails offer plenty of walks, and the scenery is beautiful. The visitor centre has free parking, and there are camping grounds for tents and camper vans, as well as accommodation listed on booking.con. Ramps and automatic doors make it disability friendly. The main route is flat apart from the occasional speed bump. There are two lakes and hiking trails, including one to margum park in port Talbot.

The visitor centre is good for families, with great play and activity areas. The food there is very good and reasonably priced, and free parking is a bonus. We did a circular walk around the area in May 2026. Some sections were excellent, with new work done to a high standard, but the final stretch was very hard to navigate because of thick undergrowth and fallen trees.

The cafe is lovely, with coffee, snacks, and a limited meal selection, though it gets very busy at peak times and on weekends. There are benches dotted around the lake where you can sit, rest, and watch the ducks. I always enjoy walking here. The path around the lake is flat and works for mobility scooters and youngsters on bikes. There are other routes too, but they vary in difficulty. It’s a lovely, relaxing place.

We’re only ten minutes away, yet somehow keep forgetting about this gem right on our doorstep. It never lets us down: lovely walks, great views, and really friendly people. Every visit reminds us why we moved to wales.

Fantastic campsite, with great walks and a visitors centre. You can have BBQs and fire pits, and the facilities are excellent. The toilets are immaculate.
