The bride had been told several times that the ballroom and orangery at Park Hall Hotel & Spa would be ready by 9pm the night before the wedding. Then the time moved to 11pm, and later to 1am. Instead of getting to relax before the big day, the bride, bridesmaids, family, and outside staff were left cleaning into the early morning. The ballroom was a mess, with rubbish everywhere, dirty tablecloths, unpolished glasses, and dirty cutlery. On the morning of the wedding it still wasn’t properly clean, and concerns were met with dismissive behaviour rather than reassurance or an apology. The service was unacceptable throughout. Devansh at reception showed no empathy or urgency, and kept making excuses about the hotel being “busy” instead of taking responsibility. The stay itself was poor too. My room was uncomfortable, noise disturbed me repeatedly during the night, and bright hallway light came through the door, making it hard to sleep. Getting little or no rest before such an important day made an already stressful situation worse. This was an extremely disappointing experience during my friend’s wedding on 8/4/26. What should have been a happy, memorable occasion became upsetting and unnecessarily stressful. We were paying guests and couldn’t believe how badly the whole event was organised and managed. Since then, I’ve tried to make formal complaints, expecting at least an apology, but got more excuses and was eventually ignored completely. I’ve never seen such incompetence. I would not recommend this venue for weddings or large events. Avoid at all cost.
The spa next door was lovely, and we made good use of the pool, steam room, and sauna. Mina on reception was really helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, peaceful, and nice, and the place itself was lovely. We also had a good meal at the restaurant, though the popadoms came with a poor selection of pickles. Breakfast on both days was delicious too. It’s very handy for visiting the BCLM, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.
I paid £281 for two nights, then £15.95 for breakfast and another £5.95 for avocado. That avocado and poached eggs took 50 minutes to arrive, apparently because the chef was training. A light fitting fell in the night and hit me. When I finally spoke up, I was told “sorry, chin up and have a nice day.” I travel around the UK a lot and chose this place because it looked decent for the area. The service, cleanliness and overall stay were worse than at a Travelodge. Terrible hotel, and there was very little care shown.
The room was pleasant and the building itself is lovely, but the bath was worn and rusted in spots. We booked for a spa break and only discovered there were reduced hours once we were there: the pool closed early and there were no treatments. The restaurant was also on a limited menu without advance notice, and some dishes didn't match their descriptions. Staff said items had been substituted depending on availability. Breakfast had little choice and several things were unavailable, while some gym machines were missing pins. At checkout, we weren't given a chance to discuss any of it. Snow had fallen before we left, and the paths and car park hadn't been gritted, so they were very slippery and potentially unsafe. We would have appreciated better communication and attention to maintenance and detail.
The rooms were spacious, classy and comfortable, and the staff made our Christmas family gathering for a 60th birthday such a success. From the first enquiry and planning through to the service on the day, everything was handled brilliantly by the events and waiting teams. Some guests came from out of town and stayed overnight. It was an amazing occasion, and we plan to hold more parties here. Great venue and excellent service.
