Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen

Everything was clean, the decor was nice, and the location is handy for town. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient, and the food and drinks at the hotel were good too. Fabulous hotel.

The room felt like a poor deal for the extra price of a club room. The only additions seemed to be a safe in the wardrobe and a mini fridge. At checkout, when my husband said we hadn’t really enjoyed our stay and didn’t think it was worth the money, the staff member just said they were sorry to hear that. They didn’t seem bothered. For a four-star hotel at this price, I expected more. We’d probably get better service and value at the Premier Inn. The complimentary drink voucher was also misleading. It said spirits were excluded, although the hotel company website said they were included. A staff member told us the policy had changed but the website hadn’t been updated. Our room was chilly and drafty when we arrived. There was only a radiator, and it hadn’t been turned up. The staff member who came up only adjusted its thermostat, to below 30. There were blinds but no curtains to help keep the warmth in. The pillows weren’t comfortable, there were no drinking glasses so we used mugs, and the toilet roll holder was awkwardly far from the toilet. The bathroom had no extraction fan, so everything steamed up after a shower. There was no room service menu in the room, and the TV menu didn’t explain that it was there. Food prices were extortionate, so we only ate breakfast because it was included. There wasn’t much choice, especially for anyone with coeliac disease or other allergies. The fruit options were limited to melon, pineapple and a berry mix, the yoghurt tasted bland to me, and both juices seemed watered down.

The staff were so friendly, and breakfast the next morning was fantastic. My husband and I had a great night. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. Thanks for a lovely stay.

This is definitely our favourite hotel in Aberdeen, and I’d recommend it to anyone. Our room was spacious, modern and comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The location was great too, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
