Park Inn By Radisson Aberdeen

I've stayed here plenty of times and plan to keep coming back. Jodie at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful. She made sure I got the room choice I needed and remembered my name in later conversations. The staff are amazing, and it's a great hotel. I'll be back in late February.

The staff reacted quickly when the shower broke, but they didn't know what to do until my disabled husband explained how to shut off the water. At 1am the controller came off in my hand, scalding water went everywhere, and then I was left standing in cold water. It took both of us to get the controller back on, and the shower wouldn't turn off. They offered us another room, but it was late and we wanted our own bed, so that was our choice. We had no toilet or water facilities overnight. When I asked the manager on Sunday for water to brush our teeth before leaving, she said a room had been available if we needed it, but didn't seem interested. We've stayed here several times and usually have a pleasant stay, but may need to look elsewhere. It's a shame. The room itself had seven sockets at the table and none by the bed, and the mattress was awful compared with last time, very uncomfortable and barely let me sleep. Even the shower pressure during the day wasn't great.

The location is handy for Union Square, restaurants and other places to eat, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I also liked the spacious room and bathroom. There were a few letdowns: no parking on site, and the nearby car park was about £13 per day. The hallways and restaurant in the park smelled unpleasant, which spoiled the atmosphere. My mattress had a noticeable dip and wasn't comfortable. Breakfast was basic too, with croissants and other bakery items that were soft instead of fresh and crisp. The location and staff were definite pluses, but the comfort, breakfast and facilities made the stay less enjoyable than I'd hoped.

The room and bathroom were spacious, the bed was comfy, and I slept like a baby. Climate control worked perfectly, service was excellent, and the power shower was a real treat. I skipped breakfast, then regretted it when I saw what was on offer the next morning. The little kettle wouldn't work when I got up to make coffee. I went to tell the desk manager, not to complain, and she promptly brought me a cup at checkout. I cheekily had a second free cup too. It's a bit expensive, but I'd definitely return for the comfort.
