I left early because I felt so uncomfortable in the room. Stains covered the carpet, the flooring had holes, the walls were marked and dented, dust was everywhere, and the wallpaper was peeling. The wet-room bathroom smelled awful and had visible floor stains. I don't believe it had been cleaned, and I couldn't bring myself to take off my shoes or socks. That night, loud scratching from the ceiling kept waking me. It was unsettling, and I don't even want to guess what caused it. Earlier, in my first room, a tap was running and wouldn't turn off. When I reported it, I was told to change rooms instead of anyone fixing it, and a ceiling panel fell to the floor as I was leaving. The replacement was described as the last room available and was accessible, but the key card didn't work, so I had to go back for another. The only good part was the friendly receptionist at check-in, who let me leave my bag and check in 20 minutes early. This was the worst hotel stay I've had, with poor upkeep, cleanliness and no real effort to deal with serious problems. I'd strongly advise staying somewhere else.

The front desk lady was friendly and very helpful, so the service gets five stars from me. The room itself was disappointing: the door didn't open properly, there were no pillows, the bedside lamps didn't work, and there was no safe or kettle despite both being advertised. If you use a wheelchair, avoid the second floor. There are four sets of stairs leading to completely random areas, which makes no sense.

The Rox hotel Aberdeen is centrally located, with huge rooms, a great shower and a comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and attentive, and I'd book again. The only issue was a blown bulb in the main light, though the ceiling had soft lighting and there were lights around the bed. At this price, I wasn't expecting turndown or pillow service. Thanks to the staff.

Cheap, and I can see why. The place didn't feel safe, the rooms were tired, and reception staff barely engaged when they were there, often saying they were busy with other guests. At 8 am, my room had no toilet roll or iron, and I asked for the heating to be turned on. No one was at reception, and I spent 25 minutes looking for someone. I ended up in the boiler room, kitchen, staff locker room and other rooms that should've been locked. The kitchen was left messy. They don't get the basics right and don't seem to care. The evening receptionist seemed more interested in her phone, and after I spoke with the GM, I wasn't convinced my concerns had been taken seriously. If you're travelling alone, this isn't suitable. Avoid.

For the price, I thought the hotel was fine. The room was clean enough and better than I expected, though I probably wouldn't stay here with family. When we arrived in the evening, there was a drug addict asleep in front of the entrance, and it didn't feel entirely safe. I'm surprised by how many negative reviews there are.
