The Kings Head Hotel

Janak went above and beyond to make the visit feel relaxed and personal. The King’s Head Hotel in Abergavenny had a warm atmosphere, lovely food, and genuinely friendly staff. A cosy, welcoming stay, and I’d highly recommend it.

The food and service were both the best, and everyone we met was so kind. My husband and I visited Abergavenny for the first time recently and stayed at the King's Head Hotel. We’ll definitely be back!

We shared my mate’s family room because I felt physically sick in mine and didn’t want the smoke smell getting all over the bed. Both rooms we were given were filthy and smelled of smoke. There was hair everywhere, curtains hanging off their rails, and the walls and woodwork were scuffed and chipped, all in an 80s beige. It felt dirty, and I couldn’t understand paying £207 to leave a beautiful home for that. I suspect the rooms may be used by staff or family, since Netflix was set to the same international language in both. We’d booked the hotel because it was halfway between us, the only one in Abergavenny with vacancies, and my mate and I, both in our 50s, were desperate to meet up after being friends since school. I have stage 4 terminal cancer. My mate complained first and was moved to another room. It was a family room, a little cleaner but not much. I tried the other hotels, but none had rooms available. I returned my key and asked for a refund for one room, offering to pay for breakfast and give it a chance. They refused and said I was one of those people who always wants something free. That’s simply not true. I explained my situation, but they showed no compassion. There was no hot water in the shower, either. They said sharing a room was against the law, but what else could I do? They were very rude. We did have breakfast. The girl serving was very polite, but the food seemed like cash-and-carry fare rather than fresh. The staff were nowhere to be seen. I’d suggest staying well away. Next door has lovely fresh food, and their outdoor booths were full all day while the King's Head booths sat empty. That says it all.

The staff were friendly, and the accommodations were just right. We had a great stay at the kings head hotel, and they were gracious and very accommodating when we needed to switch dates. I can't recommend them enough!
