The cottage was dirty and uncomfortable, with worn, old chairs. Hot water was barely available, and the drains were blocked when we arrived. The owners blamed us for supposedly washing wetsuits and putting sand down the drain, though we hadn't swum anywhere sandy. It felt like they were making things up to suit themselves. We had a very poor stay. The hosts often talk about being on hand to fix problems, but when reviews keep mentioning that, it makes you wonder why there are so many issues in the first place. I rarely leave a bad review after staying in lots of lovely places, but people should know this many problems isn't normal. We booked using a friend's name, in case the response is that I didn't stay there.

We really enjoyed our two nights in this cosy, lovely cottage. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Big windows looked out over the loch and mountains, and we loved the decor.

The kitchen was gorgeous and had more equipment than you'd expect in a self-catering place. The cottage's design makes clever use of its space, and it has a quaint feel. We spent a girly weekend here, about a 10-minute drive from Loch Lomond. The heating setup was unusual, and we had to keep an eye on how much water we used. Some furniture felt old-fashioned, and there wasn't really anywhere comfortable to sit. Still, it was a lovely place for a few days.

The front room at Dunruadh Cottage has a breathtaking view of Ben Lomond. The cottage is well equipped, and its location worked really well for exploring Loch Lomond and the wider National Park. We also enjoyed an evening walk in the nature reserve, with sublime views from the end of Shore Wood on a good night. The hosts give you space, but they're close by if you need anything. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting the area.

We arrived after dark, so only saw the cottage's stunning view the next morning. Lovely place, with great features inside and a garden where we could bring our little westie. Would highly recommend it!
