The restaurant downstairs was warm and comfortable, which made a big difference on a cold winter's day. Kay, our waitress, was lovely, polite, and attentive. My brother, my parents, and I had lunch at the Plough in Alnwick for his birthday. The portions were very big and we all enjoyed our meals. Mum and I had chicken flatbread, Dad chose fish and chips, and my brother had scampi and chips. We'd all recommend the Plough for food.

There was loads of room, with a double wardrobe and plenty of hangers, plus a dressing table with more than enough drawers. The room was beautiful and heated really well. Thick carpets and a super comfy bed too. I'd happily stay again.

We went for Sunday lunch with a couple of friends. The portions were generous, the food was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were friendly and chatty. I'd definitely come back.

The Plough looks great, with multi-level seating and gorgeous refurbished rooms in the heart of Alnwick. There are plenty of quieter spots for a coffee and some work, or a quiet drink with friends. Katie has been the new landlady for a few weeks. It was really nice meeting you on my visit today, Katie, and best of luck with the new venture. The photos show what a stunning venue it is. (D) 🙂

There was only one bartender working when I came in for a few drinks with my daughter-in-law after walking around Alnwick, but her service was amazing. She went out of her way to look after us and serve us. I didn't get her name, but she had very short white-blonde hair, wore glasses, and looked around 20. She told us about the town and what to do and see next time we visit. She got both me and my daughter-in-law excited about coming back.
