We’ve just got home after two nights and had the best time. The room was beautiful, the shower was fab, and the location was great. The staff couldn’t have done enough for us, and they’d left a card because it was a special trip. We also had a beautiful meal for our wedding anniversary and a little treat at the end. Thank you!

The spa was especially peaceful when we went on Friday afternoon for the three-hour thermal experience, which came with a deli platter. I think the timing may have helped, since breakfast felt busier on Saturday, but our stay was still very relaxing. There are comments saying it isn’t good value, yet coming from London we felt the price was fair. It was over £500, but included two nights, breakfast, food and a spa day, while £500 in London could easily just cover a nice room for two nights without breakfast or extras. My partner booked The Langdale Hotel & Brimstone Spa for my birthday, and everything went really well. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout. We had fast room service, enjoyed the restaurant, and breakfast was fresh and well done both mornings. Our Roomy Lakeland Signature Room was beautiful, with a huge, incredibly comfortable bed. We’d definitely come back.

We had a lovely time at the hotel, with amazing views of the surrounding area. The spa facilities were great, and there’s also a pool, gym and sauna available outside the spa. Breakfast was included, and the restaurant serves lunch and dinner. The spa booking came with a platter, including vegetarian choices. One small downside, the TV has Freeview, not Netflix, though you can use Chromecast for YouTube and BBC iPlayer.

This was our second visit to The Langdale Estate, and we’re already looking forward to another. The estate is beautiful and peaceful, with plenty of scenery, and it’s well placed for days out in Ambleside, Windermere and Kendal. The main drawback is getting there and around without a car, which could be difficult. Our room was cosy, clean and welcoming after a day exploring the Lakes. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast at Stove had a great range with plenty for everyone, and the spotless, relaxing spa was a highlight. I’ll keep recommending the place.

The £200 ground-floor room looked out at cars, and the shower head didn’t work properly. For the price, the stay fell well short of other spa hotels in the Lakes. My husband and I came for one night after hiking around langdale, then found the spa busy with public visitors and lots of children. The pool was too small for a proper swim, there were only two loungers for reading or relaxing, and it didn’t feel luxurious. We also ate at the restaurant, where the menu seemed fine but the food disappointed. The mushroom ragu starter wasn’t what I expected from a ragu. Sweet-style cake bread alongside the duck parfait didn’t go well with it, and the goats cheese and beetroot salad was very dry and boring, just leaves with beetroot and goats cheese. It’s one of my favourite dishes, but this was the worst I’ve had. My husband’s chicken breast main was underwhelming too. I’d prefer the service charge to be optional; even though I’d normally add one, I want to make that choice myself. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again, as there are nicer and cheaper hotels nearby.
