I was there for two nights while working nights, and daytime housekeeping made it hard to sleep. From 8am until 11.30 they kept slamming doors, and it sounded like construction work was happening. There was no consideration for guests sleeping during the day. Some room lights and the table lamp didn't work either. The TV only had about six channels, and the Wi-Fi was questionable.

The reception team working the night of 21 Nov and the morning of 22 Nov made the biggest impression. They were warm, kind and really helpful, proper Scottish hospitality. The rest of the stay was great too, with good restaurant food and service, clean rooms, and facilities that worked well.

The room was basic, and its noisy heating kept me awake until we finally turned it off. It was a cold night, so we really needed the heat. There was also some noise from the floor above early in the morning. I wouldn't stay again.

The hotel staff were always pleasant, welcoming and helpful. The accommodation itself felt dated, with only an electric wall heater and no air conditioning. I didn't try the pub food next door, as the standard chicken or beef menu with everything served alongside chips didn't appeal to me.

The staff were really friendly and the place was nice, but getting online or using a phone was a problem. Mobile reception was poor on every network, and the Wi-Fi was awful. I tried the premium Wi-Fi too, but none of the codes I was given worked, and the desk staff member didn't know how to sort it out. I had to go into town to get reception. Other guests mentioned similar problems, and it sounded like a common fault. A family member also found their car had been keyed in the car park.
