I’d checked the official website before stopping for lunch, where fish and chips were listed at £12, which seemed like a fair price. Once I arrived, though, the cost was nearly twice that at £22 per person. I’d gone out of my way to come here, so I ordered it anyway expecting a really good plate. The portion was small and the fish dry. Any chippy does a better job for much less.

After years of coming to the Clachaig for its food and service, I stopped in for lunch for the first time in four years and left really disappointed. The menu is much smaller now, with few choices. The food was barely warm: my partner had to ask for the stew to be microwaved, and my burger was the same. I ate only some of mine because I was hungry. The chips were hot, but clearly frozen. The staff seemed completely uninterested, serving us with their hands in their pockets. I live too far away to visit often, but next time I’m in the Glen I won’t eat here. I’ll see whether The Kings House is any better, though it used to come second to the Clachaig. We live and learn.

We were welcomed warmly on our first visit to the Clachan Inn, and the meal was delicious, beautifully presented and cooked just right. We’d headed there for lunch after a cold dip in Loch Lomond. It certainly won’t be our last time.

We found the room clean and cozy, with a bed that was so comfortable, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The food was fantastic too. We expected a quiet weekend in January, but it turned into a lovely mix of comfort food, live music, dancing and good vibes. The location is perfect for the Highlands, with beautiful views everywhere. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend it even in the off season!☺️

At the bar, the live music made for a really friendly, warm atmosphere. I had the vegetarian haggis and my husband ordered the game casserole, and both were delicious. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable, just what you want when travelling in winter. We had such a good stay and meal, and would definitely return next time we’re passing.
