Tor Na Coille Hotel

The wedding meal was lovely, with much bigger portions than we've had at other hotels. We stayed two nights for a fabulous wedding and had a great time. Service was excellent, and the wedding itself went very smoothly. The staff were brilliant even through the breakfast chaos we created, with people coming and going, tables and place settings moving, and complicated orders. Great for a wedding or family gathering.

The restaurant has a sophisticated but comfortable, relaxed feel, and the staff were attentive and well mannered throughout, with prompt service. The food was well crafted and full of flavour. Guinness bread was a distinctive accompaniment, and the fish and chips had excellent haddock, cooked perfectly without grease. The crispy mushroom katsu curry was well balanced, with velvety coconut rice and pickles that suited it well. Onion rings and tempura cauliflower were light and fresh. When my wife asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail, they were happy to make one. If this place was once good enough for Charlie Chaplin, it still delivers the service and quality today's stars would expect.

Our bedroom was very large and extremely good value for money during our two-night stay. We ate in the restaurant one evening, and the meal and breakfasts were excellent. Service was super quick, and they were very accommodating about my need for gluten-free food. I'd definitely stay again.

The service is impeccable, and Barry made us feel so welcome on both our visits to the restaurant. I've eaten roast dinners at lots of hotels and restaurants for work, but the Tor-Na-Coil's roast in Banchory is to die for. The meat quality and cooking are superb, and you can tell every item on the plate has had some care. We'll certainly be back!
