Chris showed me to my room, and though I’d booked a single, I was given a double, such a treat. The bed and linen were incredibly comfortable, with fluffy white towels and a shower with superb pressure, which I told Chris was the best on the planet. There was a stunning sea view over Ballyholme from the bay window and its window seat. The place has an instant wow factor, with a cosy, quirky, homely feel, wooden floors and panelling that reminded me of my childhood home. I chose to stay while visiting NI after walking past many times when I stayed at Bangor Marina. I didn’t stay for breakfast, but I’ll definitely return. I travel alone regularly and had a wonderful time. Ten out of ten.

We stayed on 14 February and really didn’t want to leave. It’s such a charming, beautiful place right on the seafront, with cosy, comfortable, quiet luxury. The decor and staff were lovely, breakfast was great, and the view is something to admire any time of day.

Chris, our host, seemed to be everywhere, taking care of everything, and he and the staff were very friendly. We had breakfast both mornings before heading out around Belfast, and the food and service were excellent. Cairn Bay Lodge is adorable, with an awe-inspiring view over the bay and a spacious room that still felt cosy. We spent two nights there while on a two-week holiday in Northern Ireland and Ireland, outside Belfast. If you want your holiday to feel special, it’s a lovely place to start.

Jane and the whole staff are so friendly and always ready to help. The setting is beautiful, the food outstanding, and the location is perfect for pubs and local attractions. Rooms are large and full of character. No need to bring a book, there are hundreds to choose from!
