Premier Inn Barry Island

The waterfront setting is the best part, with plenty of nearby places to walk to and local housing close by, so the pub gets a mix of residents and hotel guests. Parking is plentiful, the welcome is warm, and the rooms are the usual decent standard. The linked Brewers Fayre serves hearty food and drink at good prices. I'd definitely come back to this Premier Inn.

We'd stayed here before and had a great stay, but the lost property service was shocking. I left a blouse hanging in the room and forgot it while collecting our bags after breakfast. I called the next day and eventually got through in the early evening, only to hear it hadn't been found and might have been thrown out. They said they'd call the following day, but didn't. When I rang again, I was told once more that it may have been thrown away. Don't leave anything behind.

The location worked really well for us, with a lovely walk to Barry seafront and Cardiff centre only 30 minutes away. There was plenty of parking, breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and tidy, and the bed was very comfortable, just as expected.

The Brewers Fayre next door was very good for both dinner and breakfast, and we'd definitely stay here again. We were in Barry for a family funeral and spent one night at the hotel. I first stayed here 13 years ago, during its opening week. It's well located, not far from the airport. Room 122 was enormous, easily big enough for four king-size beds. But with the TV 5 or 6 metres from the bed and at an awkward angle, the room could really use a settee or chairs. The screen, no more than 36 inches, felt much too small, and the sound was very poor. Still, I'd recommend the hotel.
