There are four acres of beautiful gardens, plenty of comfortable places to relax inside, and a very relaxed feel throughout. The rooms are large and clean, with evening turn-down service and a choice of newspapers. Parking was hassle-free, and all the staff were friendly and professional. The swimming pool and steam room were clean and well looked after, and the adjoining spa offers luxurious, relaxing treatments. Breakfast was first-rate in both choice and quality. It's waiter service, so no queuing at a buffet. A shout-out to Kristina and George for their attentive service.

The suite was spacious and well equipped, with a large deep bath, a big shower, and a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful from the start, and breakfast was flavourful and well made, with staff on hand if you needed anything. It was a really relaxing stay. Even in late winter and early spring the gardens are beautiful and immaculate, a lovely spot to sit and listen to the birds. Thank you for making our stay perfect.

We'd happily return after our three nights at The Bath Priory. Access to the Sauna, Steam Room, and Spa was included, which was a great way to unwind after exploring Bath. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout and made us feel at home. Breakfast was a highlight, beautifully presented and very tasty, and the food overall was amazing. A relaxing atmosphere and top-tier service. Highly recommend.

Dinner and the wine flight were excellent. At first, each course and wine came with a careful presentation and explanation, but that attention slipped at the main course, which was set down without a word. Then the pre-dessert parfait was missing. When I asked about it, I was shown a different menu without the parfait, so I asked to see the original menu we'd received at the start. The dish was clearly listed there. The disappointing part wasn't just that it was missing, but that staff suggested it had never been available. It was a small moment that left a bitter taste and took away from what should have been a special evening. We stayed on Sunday night on a dinner, bed, and breakfast rate. Before arrival, we were sent the Valentine's menu and agreed to it for a small premium. Check-in was seamless and welcoming, as on previous visits, and we were given our historically favourite room. This time, though, it needed some TLC: the very old wooden frame windows need repair and repainting, the lampshade was cracked inside, and the carpet had visible marks and the walls scuffs. Those things are understandable in a busy hotel, but at this price for a five-star Relais & Châteaux property, rooms should feel immaculate. The Bath Priory is still a beautiful hotel with excellent food. At this level, consistency, transparency, and attention to detail really matter.

The Bath Priory has a lovely spa and restaurant, but the restaurant's small plates felt overpriced. The service was pretty disappointing. After we'd spent over 300£ on a night's stay and dinner, the receptionist offered takeaway coffees as we left, then asked us to pay for them. That didn't feel like high-quality hospitality. For a hotel presenting itself as a luxury stay and relaxing retreat, a little extra flexibility would be welcome. One last detail, I'd reconsider the colonial paintings in the tea room.
