The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa

We had a great surprise one-night stay with my wife, and really wished it could have lasted longer. The hotel was outstanding and the amenities were great. Dillon helped us with our bags, and Ronnie gave excellent service as she showed us to our room. Chloe helped rearrange our dinner reservations, and it was nice speaking with Clara the manager. Patricia took wonderful care of us at breakfast and was very kind to my wife and me. The only disappointment was that staff couldn’t add my wife’s Hyatt membership number to our stay.

For a business trip to Bath, I made this one-night stay a bit of a treat, but the price didn’t match the facilities or service. The concierges were outstanding. The rest of the service was disappointing. At check-in, there was another couple ahead of us, which was fine. We were told someone would come as soon as they’d finished helping them. After 20 minutes, nobody had appeared, so I went to the front desk and found that the staff member had clearly forgotten we were waiting. The room was fine, though a bit dated. I’d made an error on the booking, so there was only one person’s towels. We asked for a second set early in the afternoon, expecting it to be straightforward, but none arrived while I was out at a meeting. I had to give up my chance to shower because I put my wife first. Later at the spa, the receptionist was distinctly unfriendly and rude, and loudly took a personal phone call. Breakfast service the next morning was dysfunctional, too. We waited a long time to be seated, then the waiter ignored us. Eventually we flagged down another staff member. I had a meeting to join and was told breakfast would be quick, but after the long wait I had to leave for it. I appreciated that a fresh breakfast was made for me. We used the spa later, but the CCTV cameras put us off, including one directly above the jacuzzi. All in all, it was disappointing and didn’t live up to the establishment’s reputation.

Clara was so lovely, and everyone we met made the stay feel special. The room was spotless, beautiful, and had thoughtful little touches. Food, drinks, and service were all faultless. The spa was peaceful, though smaller than I expected and not quite as impressive as the photos. Thanks so much, we’ll have to come back.

We had a full body massage with Helena, who did a great job, and the spa itself was lovely. Our room was spacious and very nice, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good, as were the drinks at the bar. It’s a luxurious hotel, and the price reflects that.
