We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and the staff were polite and professional right through to our leaving. My daughter and I had afternoon tea today, Saturday, and everything was spot on: tasty food and plenty of it. We were seated beside the wood stove, which was especially nice on such a chilly day. Josh, one of the youngest staff members, looked after us for most of the visit and was a lovely lad. The bar staff and others were great too, though I’m sorry I didn’t catch their names. General manager Eamon came over to check that we were happy. We told him how well everyone had looked after us, and he took a few minutes to chat, which was a lovely touch. We both had a great afternoon and will come back. We also recommend the Mother’s Day afternoon tea we went to last year. Thanks to everyone.

The dessert table was something else, and the servings were so generous that this really felt like a proper all-you-can-eat buffet. I’d thought £40 per head sounded steep, but seeing the quality, amount and range of food changed my mind. I’m away to lie down now. We’ve had a few carvery lunches lately, and none came close for value, flavour or choice. We were warmly welcomed to our table, where Ethan talked us through how the carvery worked. There was a great choice of starters, then artisan breads and soup. Brendan carved delicious meats for our main course. Robert, Josh and Evie were pleasant and helpful, checking whether we needed anything and clearing our plates. Every staff member seemed happy to be at work, and I can’t remember the last time I noticed customer service this good. I can’t say enough good things about today’s meal. Well done 👏

Phil at the front desk deserves a special mention. He was extremely helpful and professional, and seemed ready to assist in any way. I reckon he could be the next General Manager for the Hastings brand. The whole hotel was so welcoming, from check-in to check-out. The staff were friendly and did their best to help with whatever we needed. It really felt like they wanted us to feel at home.

My parents have had afternoon tea many times over the years and said yours was the best they’ve had. High praise! They visited this past Saturday and haven’t stopped talking about the service since. Manager Eamonn was very accommodating, and they felt warmly welcomed by him and all the staff.

The large foyer was a pleasant spot to spend the afternoon, and the staff kept refilling our teapot whenever we needed it. For six of us, though, a second teapot would have saved us from having to ask for refills so often. We were there for a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate my sister-in-law’s 70th birthday. The food was tasty, plentiful and nicely presented. We’d happily recommend this place for afternoon tea.
