USED DRUG NEEDLES? Come on! They were all over the window, along with scissors, knives and other sharp things. I was horrified. Do you even know how to clean? I’d driven from Scotland and booked because it was already 2 am and I needed somewhere for the night. It was the worst night of my life. I slept with my shoes on. The toilet paper was on the floor, and bugs were crawling on the bathroom floor, some kind of bug I didn’t know existed. I kept scratching at my skin until the next day. I didn’t even use the tap to brush my teeth or wash my face. I left at 8 am, booked another hotel and finally felt human again.

The staff have always been lovely and welcoming to me and my partner. We’ve stayed here for years because it’s convenient and the prices suit us, and I’ve never really had a reason to complain before. But on this one-night stay, our room was so filthy we had to keep our shoes on, and we just couldn’t feel comfortable. The floor was covered in dirt and the bathroom wasn’t clean either. It’s a shame because the staff work so hard, and I have nothing against any of them. The hygiene standard that night was very poor.

The whole stay was awful. We had no pillows and were told no when we asked for some, so we had to use our bags. The duvet was thin, cold and ripped. The bath was peeling while I was in it, and the room was dirty. Large groups of men stood by the doors, which didn’t feel welcoming. I won’t stay again.

For a budget stay, it was fine for the cost and worked well for my work trip. The staff were brilliant, friendly and really helpful. The rooms were clean enough, though the walls could use a bit of care, with chips and scrapes in the paint.
