Claremont Hotel

The food was excellent, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Anny in the restaurant was especially good. For the money, I kept wondering how they managed it. I'd recommend the Claremont for a fun turkey and tinsel stay, and I'll be back next year. We spent five days there, and it was excellent value. There's just one lift, but I never had to wait an unacceptable amount of time. The toilets are one floor below the entertainment room, bar, and restaurant, and were kept very clean. A few small changes might improve things. Bingo is popular, so putting a session on after tea and before the main entertainment could work well. People who want an early night could head off then. The entertainment room is lovely, though people saving seats by eating in shifts spoiled it a bit. The entertainment was also too loud and could be turned down.

As I'm Coeliac, I was apprehensive about what food would be available. When we arrived, I was given a full menu at the restaurant and asked to choose my meals for later. There was plenty of choice and the food was lovely. My meals were brought to me each time, and our waiter even ordered my toast as soon as he saw me at breakfast. One suggestion: a tick box for a bread roll with soup would help. I had to ask for one, then a stroppy staff member told me I should have written it on the menu, though nobody had explained that. Still, I was very impressed and had a relaxing stay. Thank you, Claremont.

Alicia looked after us in the restaurant so cheerfully and was really helpful. We came for a long weekend with friends and had a great time: the rooms, entertainment and food were all great. The all inclusive deal was definitely a winner, too.

The drinks were included, though you had to collect them from the bar as there was no waiter service for drinks. Food was first class: starters and desserts came from a buffet, while the main courses were brought to the table, usually within two minutes of ordering. Our waitress was very efficient.
