The staff were friendly and helpful, and it looks like some updates may be happening around the hotel. But the building still feels very dated, and that wasn't enough to make up for the night we had. The bed was so hard it was uncomfortable even to sit on, and music was blasting on a Tuesday night. I think there may have been an event on. It was loud enough that I couldn't sleep, and I was tempted to spend the night resting in the car, which seemed more comfortable. A warning about the noise, or a room elsewhere in the hotel, would have helped. I wouldn't recommend staying here or come back.

The staff were a real help, and breakfast was hearty in a clean dining room. Dinner was hot and filling but not very appetizing. There wasn't much salad to choose from, though what was offered was fresh. The conference facilities were good, and the hotel is right across the road from a tram into the Town Centre. We were there for a dance weekend and had a blast, but otherwise I wouldn't choose to stay here. The hotel is run-down from the broken entrance and rubbish-filled pond to the dirty lift and crumbling outside. Rooms are shabby and basic, though the beds and towels were clean. No housekeeping was offered. I asked for a fridge for medication; it arrived dirty with a months-old carton of spoiled milk inside, and only the light worked.

The restaurant staff were friendly and very helpful, while the reception staff seemed as if they couldn't be bothered. The building looks impressive from a distance, but up close it's quite a shock. Inside, it's tired and needs redecorating and modernising, and the furniture in the room looked like a mix of old styles.

The fire alarm went off at 2:45 in the morning while my wife, our children aged 5 and 6, and our 9-week-old daughter were asleep. Everyone, including us, ran downstairs to get out. It turned out a drunk person had set it off. Three police cars came, and six officers were trying to hold her down to arrest her. It was a really awful stay. I asked for a full refund, but the manager on duty basically told me to get lost and said he'd call the police on me. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There were four beds in the room, one double and three singles, but only three pillows for all of us. The room door didn't lock, and there was no shower gel in the bath dispenser. The double bed was broken and felt as if I might roll out of it. When we asked to have it changed, all we got was a mattress topper, which was a joke. I wouldn't feed the food to my dog, let alone my kids. That was a waste of £37. Family Room (2

We didn't sleep at all. The place was so noisy that you could hear people in the next room using the toilet and flushing it. Our room was very basic, and it was too hot because of the heating. I complained and was told someone would come up to sort it out, but nobody did. Most of the staff were rude and unwelcoming, apart from one receptionist. I also overheard another guest complaining and a staff member replied that it couldn't be that bad and that they hadn't complained straight away. That was very rude. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend the hotel.
