The New Discovery Hotel

It’s just a room, but it came with towels, soap and toilet roll, and suited our family of two adults and three kids. The man who greeted us was so friendly and great with my children, even the one who wanted extra pillows. We felt safe, and it’s close to the beach. You can’t complain, and we’ll go again. It’s not 5*.

The only thing I can complain about is that there were too many milk sachets, so we shared some with the seagull on our window platform. Great guy. The creaky floors, falling-apart ceiling, broken bed and dirty sheets all added to the experience, along with no heating and freezing temperatures. The welcome was so warm it felt like staying with family. Possibly the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Much love the blue noses, I’d 100% stay again.

The bed had a hole in it, the shower was full of damp, and my husband had bites from the mattress. The kettle was rotten, the cloth wardrobe was covered in paint, the toilet was broken, and the fire alarm was hanging by a piece of wood. The window was full of damp too. What more can I say? Nothing like the bedrooms I saw on booking dot com.

The room was simple, but had everything we needed to rest and recharge for the next day. We were on a budget, and the price and location suited us, between the south and central pier and about a ten-minute walk from the Tower. Peter was so welcoming and showed us around, including where to find extra towels, tea and coffee. He let us check in an hour early and showed us a bigger room for when we come back with the children. He also shared useful information about nearby places, good places to eat and a local shop open until midnight. We even got a late check-out free of charge. Peter couldn’t have been more helpful. Thanks again, we’ll return. Toni & Corey
