Westberry Hotel

The restaurant was the one bright spot: its staff were kind and helpful, and the food was okay, though overpriced. The rest of our two-night stay with my husband and parents was very disappointing. Reception staff came across as cold, and I felt we were a nuisance. They knew it was my dad’s 90th birthday but didn’t even wish him well. We’d been assured the hotel was wheelchair accessible for my mum, who uses a wheelchair, but it wasn’t. The car park route to reception and the restaurant slopes steeply sideways, so we pulled her chair backwards because we were afraid she’d fall out. Getting into her room meant making a 90’ turn in a cramped space. The room was too small to turn the chair around, so we had to pull her out backwards. She could reach the toilet, but the bathroom was almost unusable for her: the shower had a high step, about 30cm, that she couldn’t get over.

Staff were super friendly and ready to help. The hotel seemed well maintained, and the rooms were spotless with modern decor. It’s right in the middle of town, yet still quiet.

We found plenty of parking right in central Bodmin when we arrived. The room was roomy, with a spotless, modern bathroom, and the restaurant meal was amazing. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Why is this place only 2*? I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as a base.

A small room, but clean and comfortable, and very good for the price. The bathroom was lovely, the staff made us feel welcome and were helpful, and breakfast was excellent. Thank you!
