I’ve been going to the Bridge for over 50 years, but I won’t be back for food. We took my family for an early evening meal yesterday, only to find there was no Sunday dinner. Staff said the hot weather meant nobody had ordered it in the previous two weeks and food had been thrown away. A notice on the door would have helped. I ordered a Caesar salad, but the sauce tasted so strongly of vinegar that it spoiled the salad. The chicken cost an extra £3.00, yet it was just four small slices, overcooked and tough, and I couldn’t eat most of it. Nobody came to check whether the meals were okay. My family said their food was okay, but we’re not returning.

We spent four nights here. The hotel information says the pub entrance is open from 9am to 11pm and that breakfast is available, but apart from Sunday there was no visible kitchen or breakfast service. On our departure morning at 9:45am, we had to take our luggage down the after-hours fire escape, three storeys of metal stairs in light rain. See photos. Three nights had booming music until 2am. On one night, all the guests had to evacuate at midnight because of the smoke alarm. Pub employees said it was due to patrons smoking at the bar. Another night, pub patrons outside asked us to buy drugs. The owners need to decide what sort of pub and hotel they want, and who they want as patrons. I would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone.

We’d always enjoyed stopping in for a drink, but yesterday afternoon was a real disappointment. Children were running around the bar while their parents left them unsupervised and used pretty appalling language around them. I’ve nothing against children in pubs, but families should have a designated area away from the bar. We also waited ages to be served, and the bar staff didn’t seem bothered.

My daughter painted the windows here for Christmas, and we loved the pub’s vibe. We came back for food on NYE, and wow, it was fresh and delicious. The staff are really friendly, and landlady Kellie is the whole vibe of this pub. Fab lady, fab pub, great atmosphere, and dog friendly too, which is just too cute. We’ll definitely be back as soon as we can. Love it here xx

The room was fine, but we were kept awake for hours by what must have been the loudest music ever, with subwoofers booming so much I could feel every beat and hear every word from the pub two floors below. There were multiple events going on downstairs. We arrived around 7pm with our one-year-old, and it took 20 minutes to get help checking in at the bar, where the bartenders also seemed to be the receptionists. The music was so loud I couldn’t even talk to my husband. Just before check-in we got a mysterious email asking us to sign a waiver about occasional late-night events. The room was excruciatingly hot, the bathroom had no mirror, and the bathtub wouldn’t hold water because the drain was broken. Our poor child couldn’t sleep. Even though we were up for hours, we couldn’t get late-night food or snacks because the kitchen closed at 8pm. I almost would have preferred to sleep in our rental car. I won’t return. Not child friendly, with loud pub music, subpar amenities, and unclear hotel and pub staffing.
