The Jasmine Guest House

We loved our week here and would come back. The owner and staff were lovely, and the breakfasts gave us a good start before heading out to explore. The rooms are a little tired, but that didn't put us off. It's budget accommodation, so don't expect five-star standards for the price.

The breakfast was the best part, substantial and well cooked. The rest was far below the standard it should have been, even for somewhere cheap. I had to clean the room myself before unpacking, the TV didn't work, the shower was barely more than a trickle, and the radiators didn't work. My room looked out over a back yard full of dog mess. I was also overcharged. They blamed Booking.com, and I had to dispute it through my bank before I got a refund more than a week later.

The towels were the only things that seemed really clean. The place was dirty and run down, badly in need of a proper clean. Our bedding smelled musty and hadn't been changed, and the shower trim was filthy. We were only there one night, thankfully, and I slept in my clothes because the bed linen put me off. We didn't try breakfast because by then we had no confidence in the owners. It's dog friendly, but I wouldn't let my dog sleep on that floor.

The owner was so welcoming, even carrying my case upstairs. I was there for one night with my other half and three kids, and we really enjoyed it. The room and shower room were both nice and clean. We'll stay again.
