We weren’t staying overnight, just came in as locals for a superb Sunday lunch at the Bridge House. Our booking mistake didn’t stop Jane and her team from fitting us in. The atmosphere was lively, the wines by the glass were excellent, and the staff were friendly and efficient. My lamb rump was pink, tender and beautifully cooked. I don’t usually have pudding, but tried the apple tatin with cream and loved that too. People often call it a goody town, which I don’t always agree with, but the Bridge House clearly makes a great contribution.

The food was the highlight of our stay. Michael, the chef, really takes pie and mash to another level. We were too full to try any dessert, which was the one disappointment. The location is excellent, and I’d highly recommend a visit. Emma-Jane gave us a superb welcome and showed us to a room with everything we needed, including bath robes. It felt worthy of a much higher-rated establishment. Lily kept our glasses topped up in the basement bar too, she’s a star.

Breakfast was one of the best I’ve eaten, with good-quality produce. We had a warm, cheerful welcome from all the staff, which made for a great stay. Our room at the front of the building was comfortable and had everything we needed. The cellar bar had a lovely atmosphere too. We’ll definitely be back.

I loved it and am already checking my diary for another relaxing stay. The family room I shared with my daughter Laura was warm, cosy and so comfortable, with fluffy towels, robes and other little extras. Breakfast and the choice on offer were 100%. The cellar bar has a great atmosphere, and the whole place is full of thoughtful details. Everyone on the Bridge team gave top-class service. A huge thank you to Emma Jane, what a star.

The room was perfect and the bed so comfortable that we slept really well. We enjoyed a great atmosphere in the bar, delicious food and the best breakfast in the morning. All the staff were friendly and gave us great service when we stayed just before Christmas. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back. Thank you for everything.
