Albany, Brighton & Hove

We found the family room spacious and nicely decorated, with two separate bedrooms and a bathroom, all very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We couldn't check in until 14:00, so we went for a wander to the beach, and they called when the room was ready. Reception also quickly brought an extra fan and more towels when we asked. The beach is within walking distance, though the pier is quite a trek. There are some lovely restaurants nearby. We booked at the last minute for two adults and two children and were pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely stay again and recommend it for an inexpensive night away.

Room 501 was good for the price. We stayed one night and enjoyed the beach, just a five-minute walk away. The room was tidy and clean, the staff polite, and the car park charge for 24 hours wasn't too bad.

We booked weeks ago for Sunday 20th July, but a week before were told we'd supposedly cancelled our own reservation. We definitely hadn't. Since then we've called every day, sometimes twice, trying to fix this. Each time the team says they'll get to the bottom of it, though we've explained that we don't care why it happened, we need a room or a refund so we can book somewhere else with only three days to go. They won't return our money. After calling for the sixth time in four days today, we were told there are no rooms left for the weekend and still no refund. We're out of pocket for a room they cancelled. Absolutely avoid. The customer service has been the worst.

The room was basic and clean, with my own toilet and shower, and Wi-Fi was okay, just not fast. I could walk easily to shops and restaurants, and bus stops were quite close. The TV kept losing its signal, and the view was horrible. When I opened the curtains, I wasn't expecting to see panties! I emailed two days before my actual arrival to correct a booking I'd made for the wrong day. When I showed up the next day, staff didn't want to let me check in. I explained that I'd emailed and never got a reply. The boss was called, I got a key, and only then did a response to my email arrive. The response time was horrible. There's no mini fridge, microwave, AC or elevator. I'm American, so I consider those standard. I don't know if I'd recommend the place, but at checkout the staff were pleasant and let me leave my luggage somewhere secure for a couple of hours until it was time to go to the airport.
