On the first night, things seemed fine: the room was clean, the receptionist pleasant enough, and there wasn’t anything bad about the visit. Still, £70 a night for just the basics stings, though I suppose that’s the going rate now. I changed my review after the second night, when the noise made sleep almost unbearable. People walking past outside weren’t especially loud, but the soundproofing from the road was horrendous, and it felt like every noise was right in my ear. Maybe you’ll enjoy hearing other guests’ late-night escapades while you desperately try to sleep.

Decent enough for the price and in a handy location. The receptionist was friendly and the room was clean, though basic, a bit like a Travelodge room. The en-suite was Lidl.

The staff were fab, especially Leona from Liverpool. It’s right next to Lidl, handy for warm bread at breakfast or food to cook for yourself. Really convenient for town, and our go-to place in Portishead.

The room is clean, and the staff are very helpful. It’s good for the price. I’ve paid much more for far worse. We’re using it as a stop-off to break up our journey.
