Hampton by Hilton Bristol Airport

We chose your hotel because we were arriving late and had enjoyed previous stays. I’d booked an accessible room due to my mobility problems, thinking the hotel was only 100 yards from the airport and the walk would be manageable. I was wrong: the route was very long, bumpy and difficult, and none of that was mentioned when I booked. By the time I’d made it from the Airport, I was exhausted. The two receptionists on duty that night were thoughtful and handled us very well, which helped a lot.

The reception team were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is well placed for the airport with decent-sized rooms and an hour of free parking. The food was a letdown, though. Breakfast had very little choice, and the trays and plates stayed empty while I waited 40 minutes. There was barely anything to eat beyond toast and beans. The sitting area was dirty, with stained chairs, and I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant for dinner: the prices were high for very poor-quality food. Even the menu leaflet we were given was just a dirty piece of paper. The manager of the breakfast and dinner area needs to address these problems.

We won’t stay here again unless they offer a different kind of bed. My partner and I barely slept because the mattress was rock hard, and its springs creaked loudly whenever either of us moved. We woke up sore and stiff, which was a rough start before a day of travel. We skipped breakfast and just wanted to leave. The hotel was clean and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s also very close to the airport: we left our car at Silver Zone parking, took the bus to the airport and walked over to the hotel. But a good night’s sleep was the main reason for booking, and the bed made that impossible.

The main bed was perfectly comfortable and the rest of the room was great, but the sofa-bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. We had a room for three before an early flight, so that mattered. There was a good choice of coffee bags, though eight seemed a bit much for one night. In the morning we picked up a breakfast-to-go bag from reception, which was enough before heading into the airport.
