All Saints Hotel

The upstairs restaurant was a letdown, and I wouldn't eat at the view again. The food looked cheap, tasted mediocre, and the choices seemed limited. Service behind the bar was poor too. Our first drinks took at least half an hour and arrived with the starters. I asked for another while collecting our starter plates, but it never came, even after our mains arrived. I saw other tables waiting a long time for drinks or not getting them before their food. A food runner who was clearing tables brought me one within two minutes when I asked him instead. The lodge downstairs was a different story, with great food and service at lunch. The hotel room was lovely, and reception and the spa were amazing, with staff who made us feel welcome. I'd come back to the hotel and spa, just not the restaurant upstairs.

For a business stay where someone else is paying, it might be fine. For leisure, I'd compare the other options first. I was there for one night on business, and it didn't quite work out. I had emailed ahead about using the pool and was told it would be available, but pool aerobics were on that evening, so nobody else could swim. The hot tub was okay, though it felt more like a home tub than a proper aqua pool. Dinner wasn't great for the price, and the menu had very few choices.

The service was friendly and attentive, and both dishes were cooked fresh to order. My wife chose the shashuka eggs, while I had the rarebit, which was rich and served on soft, garlic-infused focaccia. The waiter said the focaccia was made in house. It was a real treat, with simple ingredients brought together beautifully. The All Saints Resort has changed its breakfast menu since my last visit, adding some more adventurous brunch choices. Really looking forward to going back.

I ended up coming back a few days after my work trip, this time for a leisure stay, and it was just as good. The hotel suited both kinds of visit. My room was spotless and spacious, with peaceful green views that made it feel far removed from a business trip. The staff were warm and professional from arrival, and the service stayed attentive without getting in the way. There was a beautiful spa, a well-equipped gym and plenty of food options. Every meal I had was delicious and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the whole stay enough to return twice, and would highly recommend it.
