I was still awake at 5.am on the freezing bed, with delivery trucks unloading under my widow. The thin, threadbare mattress felt like paper and rusty springs, and sleep was impossible. Cold air came through the single glazed windows, along with every noise from the street. I’ve read that this company has a habit of cancelling at short notice, so consider yourself lucky if that happened to you. I’d have slept better and warmer in a tent on the side of the motorway. Avoid at all costs.

Construction noise woke us every morning, the springy bed was painfully uncomfortable and left me with serious back pain, and management never followed up after we raised the toilet roll issue. We were given just one roll for two adults over three days, with no resolution. The check-in was a nightmare too: we waited in the cold for an hour with no explanation or apology. I can't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hot shower was the only plus. The room felt awful, and this isn't a hotel. There’s no air con, just cold air coming through gaps around the windows. Spider webs in every corner and on the ceiling made it clear how often the rooms get cleaned. The mattress is a thin bit of material around springs. You can feel them every time you move, and as you cling on, your body sinks sideways towards the floor. A small electric radiator is the only heating, so one of you can pick which side of the bed stays warm. The fire alarm going off at 4am was another lovely extra. Six of us from 3 rooms waited outside without help or anyone to contact. The 24/7 helpline left us on hold for ages and nobody answered. We found the fire alarm key on top, checked the rooms ourselves for any sign of smoke or fire, then opened the alarm, silenced it and reset it. Someone suggested it was caused by a person using their shower. No fire brigade came, so it wasn't linked. Later the 24/7 helpline called, was no help whatsoever, and ended the call. Get a tent or sleep in the car, it would be much more comfortable. Please don’t book here.

The bed was the most uncomfortable ever, and I’m planning to leave in the morning without staying the second night. I’ll be demanding a full refund. The hallway smelled weird, there was noise from the nearby road, and no soap or shampoo was provided. Not a single lightbulb in my room worked, only the bathroom light, and then you have to listen to the fan. I was stuck outside for an hour because I never received the check-in codes. It took various phone calls to different numbers to get them. Edit: be prepared to wake at 5am, as the rooms back onto a loading bay for a Sainsbury’s shop and you’ll hear vehicles being unloaded extremely loudly from then on.
