Falstaff

The staff were the loveliest and most helpful. The decor felt so cosy and comfy, and our room was well furnished. It was close to the river and town centre. The breakfast was a good offer, with a little buffet and warmed cooked breakfast options, though it wasn’t baked or cooked on site. We really enjoyed the happy hour too!

The location was perfect for my night out at the Marlowe Theatre, about a five minute walk from both the station and the theatre. The man at the desk was friendly and efficient when I checked in. My room was in a separate building across the parking area, which was fine, and both it and the bathroom were a good size. The fixed shower head gushes water rather than spraying it, my only real complaint, but not enough to put me off staying at the Falstaff again. The sash windows are old, so if noise bothers you, bring earplugs if your room faces the road. Traffic might disturb you.

The junior suite was in a spacious, spotless building just behind the main site. The bathroom had lots of hot water and good pressure, so the shower was really nice. The decor throughout looked well maintained, and staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful. It’s in an excellent location with plenty of parking, though the payment setup is fussy, online and limited to 24 hours at a time. Great all round, recommended.

The rooms are cute, and the staff were lovely. The bed and pillows were amazing, so I slept comfortably apart from the noise of revellers and/or what sounded like barrels being moved. The main street location is great, and happy hour for guests was a bonus.
